- Decide the location to place foot heating pads, ways to
route wires, location of switch-plan ahead.
- Locate the foot stirrup, foot rest on your machine.Decide
where you want to place the heating pad - generally the
best location is the place the ball of your foot rests when
riding the machine.
- Clean the back metal jacket of each foot heating pad,
use paint thinner, mineral spirits, etc., allow to dry,
then apply of the thinner self adhesive pads to each back,
on the metal jacket. (The top of your heating pad is the
rubber surface, the back is the metal jacket)
- Before you remove the paper protecting the adhesive from
backing - place the heating pad with the wires at the top
or side, which ever is better, at your chosen location.
You want the wires to exit the bottom of the foot stirrup
immediately, if a hole is there use it or it will be necessary
to drill an exit hole through the metal bottom of your machine
foot rest for the wire leads to exit.
- Clean out any metal chips and debur the hole, if you drilled
one, clean the entire surface of foot rest as in step 3.
- If your foot stirrup has ridges, ribs, etc. you need to
take the thicker self adhesive pads- cut holes to match
the ridges or ribs, stick it to the foot stirrup at your
chosen location. This should allow installation of the foot
heating pad without rubbing on the ridges, ribs, etc.
- If your foot stirrups have holes but no ridges, ribs,
you should not use the thicker self-adhesive pads at all.
- Wrap some electrical tape around each wire next to foot
pad to protect it where it will pass through the metal of
the foot rest.
- Remove the paper protective backing of the self adhesive
pad, from completed step 3. send the wire leads into the
exit hole and place the foot heating pad in location and
press down firmly. (The following is almost never needed,
after using your heating pads a pop rivet could be installed
next to edge of metal, 1/4", if you feel the pad is not
sticking
- Determine the location of the switch, drill a hole. You
can install the switch now or attach wires first then install
the switch, with the 'ON' label to the top and 'OFF' label
to the bottom.
- Connect the wires electrically as shown in the wire diagram.
|
| |
| There are two ways to electrically install
your foot heaters. The easiest to install is using the switch
we supply for a simple on-off. The optional way will require
you to buy a new switch from your local supplier, to use in
place of the one we supply. You will need a double pole double
throw center off switch. This option will allow you to have
a high heat, low heat, and center off. It is a little more work,
but some like the Hi/Lo heat option. |
| |
This is the most popular on-off wire diagram.
REMEMBER- ROUTE YOUR WIRES AND SECURE THEM IN A SAFE MANNER
WITH ELECTRICAL TAPE OR TIES, SO THEY DO NOT RUB AND CAUSE THE
WIRE TO BREAK OR SHORT OUT.
|
 |
| |
- Connect one wire from the right and one wire from the
left foot heating pad (it does not matter which wire of
the two wires of each pad) To the machine ground, or metal
frame. This is generally the electrical return. Cut off
any excess wire length.
- Connect the remaining wire from the right and the remaining
wire from the left foot heating pad to one of the posts
on the switch (it does not matter which post on the switch).
Cut off any excess wire length.
- Using the excess wire you cut off if long enough or take
a wire you supply and connect it to the remaining post of
the switch and the other end to electrical output of your
machine.
|
| This is the optional high-off-low
wire diagram. |
| (Requires that you replace the normal switch
with a double pole, double throw. Center off switch) |
| Remember- Route your wires and secure them
in a safe manner using electrical tape or ties so they do not
rub or break. |
| |
| |
| 12. Locate the electrical wire that provides
electricity from the engine, connect a wire from it to one of
the wires of the right pad and to the lower left connector on
switch. |
| |
| 14. Take a wire from the left pad and connect
it to the lower right connector of switch and also to frame
ground (metal) of snowmobile. |
| |
| 15. Take the second wire of the left pad and
connect it to the center left and upper right connector of switch. |
| |
 |
| |
| 90 day warranty of foot heater properly functioning,
because each machine is different, and each person may have
different heating needs- no refunds are given because your toes/feet
still get cold. While we have satisfied users, and repeat customers,
we know our heating pads do work to supplement heat, however
they do have limitations of heat and can be effected by air
temperature and your physical needs. |
